Low Signal watches for stocks that have gone still — low volatility, shrinking candles, a flat RSI, thinning volume. Quiet conditions like these can be worth watching, but they don't reliably predict a price move, or which direction it'd go. This tool doesn't predict anything or tell you to buy. It just answers one question: is this stock quiet right now?
A stock isn't flagged on one metric alone. Low Signal checks four things every refresh, and flags the stock when at least three line up:
Hit three or more and the dashboard marks it green — the stock's gone quiet. Under three, it stays gray — normal activity, nothing unusual happening. The strength score (0–100) just shows how many of the four it's hitting, so you can tell a borderline quiet stock from a dead-still one.
Sign up at finnhub.io/register — no card, takes about a minute. This is what pulls real price and volume data.
Your key stays in this browser only — it's never sent anywhere except Finnhub, and I never see it.
No watchlist to build. Low Signal automatically scans a curated pool of well-known stocks across every sector and shows you which ones have gone quiet, sorted quietest-first.
Tap any row to see exactly which of the four conditions it's hitting. Use the quiet zones as a shortlist to dig into further — not as a signal to act on by itself.
Most stock apps show you what you already asked to see — you pick the tickers, it tracks price. Low Signal flips that: it scans a broad pool of stocks on its own and surfaces the ones going quiet before you'd think to look. You're not tracking, you're discovering.
The scan pool is built from well-known, widely-recognized companies — Apple, Walmart, Disney, GameStop, and others like them — shown with their full name next to the ticker. You shouldn't need to already know what "WMT" stands for to use this.
Quiet conditions can precede a move — but they're not a forecast. This watches for them.
Questions, billing issues, or just want to reach a human.
For anything — bugs, billing questions, refund requests, feedback — email:
Cancel anytime — tap Manage subscription on the Dashboard (visible once you’re on Pro), which opens Stripe’s secure billing page where you can cancel or update your card yourself, no need to contact us. Cancelling stops future billing — you keep Pro access through the rest of your current paid period, same as most subscription apps. Charges are non-refundable; if you’re not sure yet, cancel before your next renewal date rather than after being charged.
The short version: these numbers are just rules the app uses to decide whether a stock is acting "quiet." Think of them like filters — a stock that passes all four gets flagged as low signal. Here's what each one means in plain English.
Volatility below 1.2% — Volatility is how much a stock's price is swinging around today. Picture a kid on a trampoline: a low number means barely any bouncing, a high number means wild jumps. The app is looking for stocks that are barely bouncing.
Candle body below 1% — On a stock chart, a "candle" is a little bar showing how much the price moved in a day — like measuring how much a LEGO tower grew in one day. A small number means the tower barely changed height. The app wants stocks whose price barely moved.
RSI band 45–55 — RSI is basically a mood meter for a stock, running from 0 (very oversold/beaten-down) to 100 (very overbought/excited). 50 is right in the middle — calm, neutral, not excited or panicked either way. Quiet stocks often sit in this middle zone before they make a bigger move.
Volume ratio below 0.8x — Volume is how many people are actively trading the stock — like how many kids are playing with the same toy. A low number means barely anyone's paying attention to it today. Quiet volume can mean a surprise move is building.
Put together, the app is looking for stocks that are calm, barely moving, lightly traded, and sitting in a neutral mood — because that kind of quiet sometimes comes right before a bigger move.

1. What this is. Low Signal is a stock screening tool that flags when a stock's price action has gone quiet, based on a fixed formula (volatility, candle size, RSI, and volume). It is not financial advice, not a trading recommendation system, and not a licensed investment adviser service.
2. No guarantees. Quiet periods sometimes precede price moves, but this is not guaranteed, and the tool makes no claim about direction (up or down). Past patterns shown in the app (including any "signal history" feature) do not predict future results. You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions.
3. Data source. Price and volume data is provided by third-party sources (currently Finnhub) and may be delayed, incomplete, or occasionally inaccurate. We don't guarantee data accuracy or availability.
4. Subscriptions. Pro subscriptions bill monthly until cancelled. You can cancel anytime, which stops future billing — you keep Pro access through the remainder of your current paid period. All charges are final and non-refundable, including partial periods; this matches standard practice for digital subscriptions (comparable to Apple, Netflix, and similar services). If you're unsure about continuing, cancel before your next renewal date to avoid being charged again.
5. Acceptable use. Don't attempt to abuse, scrape, resell, or reverse-engineer the service beyond normal personal use.
6. Changes. We may update these terms as the product evolves; continued use after changes means you accept the update.
7. Liability. Low Signal and its creator are not liable for financial losses, missed opportunities, or decisions made based on information shown in the app.

What we collect. Your email address (for account login) and your subscription plan status. That's it from our side.
What stays on your device. Your Finnhub API key, custom thresholds, Discord webhook URL, and sector filter preferences are stored only in your browser's local storage — never sent to or stored on our servers.
Signal history data. Scan results (ticker, price, whether it hit low-signal, at what time) are logged to power the historical accuracy feature. This data is about stocks, not about you individually, and isn't tied to your identity beyond being stored in the same database as your account.
Third parties. We use Supabase for account/authentication infrastructure and Finnhub for market data. Your API key requests go directly from your browser to Finnhub — we never see or store it. Payment processing (once live) is handled by Stripe; we don't store your card details.
